Love is a beautiful thing. They say when you've found the "one" you'll just know - even if that person is already taken.
It's true that the heart wants what it wants, but at what price does that come at? For some people it could be the expense of their already established marriage, just so they can start a new life with someone else.
Even though the act of cheating on your partner is heartless, it turns out to be more common than originally thought.
We often hear about these scandals in the media, where no celebrity is off limits and privacy becomes just a myth.
But who are these stars that break their scared wedding vows only to get hitched with another? Check out these celebrities who turned their mistress into their Mrs.
1. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles
Let's start off of this list with the tragic tale of Prince Charles' failed marriage to Princess Diana and the scandalous affair he had with the infamous Camilla Parker Bowles.
Charles and Parker Bowles first met in 1970 and briefly dated before they went their separate ways. While their feelings for one another never went away, they ended up starting a family with other people.
However, it was later revealed that the twosome engaged in an extramarital affair while they were still married to their spouses, which left the public devastated over Charles' betrayal to the much beloved Diana.
They wouldn't make their first public appearance together until 1999, and despite the intense media scrutiny, the couple officially tied the knot in 2005, making Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
Sadly, Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth II, didn't attend the event, and it's rumored she still holds contempt over the Duchess for getting the royal family involved in such a highly publicized scandal.
2. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
The famous pair first met in 2005 when they performed "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" during CMT's 100 Greatest Duets concert. However, despite their magnetic chemistry, the "Honey Bee" crooner was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Williams.
"I've never had that kind of experience with anybody," Shelton told EW in 2011. "I was a married guy, you know? Standing up there and singing with somebody and going, 'Man, this shouldn’t be happening.'" Looking back on that, I was falling in love with her, right there on stage."
Even though Lambert was aware she shouldn't have become involved country hunk, she decided it was better to follow her heart instead of her brain.
"I had seen their wedding picture in Country Weekly. I knew better, like this is off limits," the "Little Red Wagon" singer said. "Because my parents are private investigators, for God’s sakes. I’ve seen this my whole life, affairs. And I’m like, 'If all people didn’t know better, I know better than this.'"
Shelton and William's marriage would inevitably break down and he would go on to tie the knot with Lambert in 2011.
Sadly, their happiness wouldn't last as Shelton filed for divorce in 2015 after accusations of infidelity began to leak out to the press.
Since then, Shelton has entered a committed relationship with Gwen Stefani, while Lambert broke up another marriage between singer Evan Felker and his wife.
3. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp
Back in the 90s, Johnny Depp was one of the hottest stars in Hollywood and almost every woman had a crush on him.
But alas, it would be French singer Vanessa Paradis who snagged Depp's affection. During their relationship they welcomed two children into the world, and they seemed like they would last the test of time.
However, it was rumored that Depp began an affair with actress Amber Heard after they met on set of The Rum Diaries. After 14 years together, Depp and Paradis would end their relationship and the Sleep Hollow star would wed Heard in 2015.
But since it's Hollywood, these two love birds wouldn't get a happy ending either.
Only a year after the twosome had said their vows, Heard filed for divorce after claiming Depp had been abusive during the course of their marriage.
When contentious situation was highly publicized as a "he said, she said" battle, several people came to Depp's defense, including Paradis.
"I believe with all my heart that these recent allegations being made are outrageous," she said. "In all the years I have known Johnny, he has never been physically abusive with me and this looks nothing like the man I lived with for 14 wonderful years."
Their divorce would be finalized in January 2017, with Heard donating her $7 million settlement to the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
4. Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
Although Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were both spoken for when the set of the TV movie, Mind Over Murder, it didn't stop them from getting together.
In 2006, Spelling and McDermott both filed for divorce from their respective spouses and got married the same year.
But of course, the sentiment of "once a cheater always a cheater" rang true, as McDermott's infidelity on the Beverly Hills, 90210 star came to light in 2014.
"I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I've caused my family." McDermott released in a statement.
"I take full responsibility for my actions and have voluntarily checked myself into a treatment center to address some health and personal issues," he added. "I am grateful to be getting the help I need so I can become the husband and father my family deserves."
After the cheating scandal was revealed, Spelling decided to arrange a meeting with Eustace, after she realized what it's like to be betrayed.
"Having gone through with him being with another woman I feel in some weird way connected to Mary Jo," Tori said on an episode of her reality show, True Tori.
"I kind of want to pick her brain about it because no one else knows better what I'm going through than her, because she's been through it with Dean," she continued. I understand a little piece of it now how hurtful it is."
While the couple ultimately stayed together for their five kids, it was recently revealed Spelling had a "potential breakdown," which led to McDermott calling the police.
5. Soon-Yi Previn and Woody Allen
It's arguable that the relationship between Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn is one of the most scandalous affairs in Hollywood, and it's not just because of their 35-year age difference.
Her mother, Mia Farrow had been in a relationship with Allen for 10 years when Previn and Allen started their affair.
To make matters even worse, the Great Gatsby actress only discovered the betrayal when she found naked pictures of Previn in Allen's apartment.
Despite the fact that the relationship tore the family apart and accusations of sexual abuse from her sister, Previn and Allen tied the knot in 1997 and have since adopted two daughters, Bechet and Manzie.
"She was an orphan on the streets, living out of trash cans and starving as a 6-year-old. And she was picked up and put in an orphanage. And so I've been able to really make her life better," the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016.
"I provided her with enormous opportunities, and she has sparked to them... So the contributions I've made to her life have given me more pleasure than all my films," he said.
6. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
When pop icon Britney Spears and Kevin Federline got together, it only took them 90 days before they became engaged.
While the story of their whirlwind romance was already a hot topic with the press, the couple was quickly engulfed in scandal when it was discovered Federline was in a relationship with Shar Jackson (who was pregnant with his second child) when he first hooked up with Spears.
But the drama didn't stop Spears from tying the knot with the backup dancer, and they welcomed two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, during their two year marriage.
Sadly, 2006 would be a rough year for the "Gimmie More" singer and Federline, as they officially ended their relationship.
"I really thought I'd spend the rest of my life with her… There were a few drastic things that went down, which I'll never talk about, but overall we still had fun," Federline told Us Weekly in 2015.
"So when she filed for divorce, I was completely caught off guard. Look, there are a million things I could say about her that would make huge headlines and cause a ton of drama, but for what? The truth is I loved her to death."
Most recently, Federline has asked the courts to increase his child payments from $20,000 a month to between $40,000 to $60,000, but Spears is standing her ground.
"They believe this is nothing but a shameless money grab. Kevin hasn’t had a full-time job in a long time. He just continues to sponge off Britney," an insider told Us Weekly. "If he even dares to withhold her kids from her after asking for a child support increase, there will be hell to pay."
7. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
While we all knew Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did the dirty on Jennifer Aniston, very few are aware she became the other woman several years later when she entered a relationship with Justin Theroux.
The Inland Empire star had been in a 14 year relationship with fashion stylist Heidi Bivens before he got together with Aniston, which understandably broke Heidi's heart.
Her mother, Marilyn Bivens, would eventually speak out on Theroux's adulterous actions, where she described him as a "dark and sinister" man.
"My baby’s heart was pierced. It was a terrible time," Marilyn told Radar Online.
"We have a choice, even if you’re not a Christian you know what’s good; you know the choice of darkness and the people who are acting out that darkness," she said, adding that her daughter is finally ready to move on.
"Heidi’s wound is closed but there’s still a scar and we’re praying for a Godly man to come and find her because she’s ready."
Sadly, the Friends actress and Theroux's relationship came to an end earlier this year, and it seems like Theroux is already on the rebound.
According to the Daily Mail, the actor has been seeing none other than former Disney star, Selena Gomez.
"Jennifer is upset over the dating rumors swirling around her ex and Selena," a source revealed.
"It hurts Jen to think that Justin would move on already. To think of him with anyone else, especially someone so young and that Jen has a personal relationship with like Selena, is painful for her," they added. "Jen doesn't want to think about it and definitely does not believe it."
10. Claire Danes and Billy Crudup
It's been 15 years since the scandalous affair between Claire Danes and Billy Crudup first came to light, but the ramifications are still remembered to this day.
Danes, was only 24 years old when she met Crudup on the set of Stage Beauty. The two would quickly fall in love, which would be wonderful if the Almost Famous actor wasn't in a relationship with Mary-Louise Parker - who was seven months pregnant with their son.
Crudup would quickly leave Parker and fully commit to the Romeo + Juliet actress, who left her boyfriend as well.
The couple received an onslaught of negative publicity for their betrayal, but would stay together for four years. While they never tied the knot, Danes reflected that they were truly in love.
"I was just in love with him," Danes revealed on Howard Stern's Sirius XM show. "And needed to explore that and I was 24… I didn’t quite know what those consequences would be."
Following the demise of their relationship, Danes would eventually wed fellow actor Hugh Dancy and welcome their son, Cryus, into the world in 2012.
Crudup on the other hand is allegedly involved with Naomi Watts.
